- For those who do not know...

- GTE (and USWest) will only gurantee 2400 baud connections. Even if
- there is line noise, they are not obligated to fix it unless you
- cannot pass data at 2400 baud or less. The only way around that is to
- purchase some sort of "business" phone service at a MUCH greater
- monthly fee. The $2-$5/ month lines keeper fee will *usually* only
- cover disturbingly audible noise problems.
